Still slogging through this. A book full of very interesting information, but aside from the atrocious translation (see previous update), there are serious grammatical errors that an editor would have caught. Incorrect noun-verb agreement, poor application of definite/indefinite articles, and black-sheep words that don't seem to belong to the sentences in which they are found.

Sticking with it, though. Wish me luck.

I'll be honest, this will not be an easy one for me to complete.

The translation is among the worst I've ever seen in a published book, and this includes vanity press releases. I feel qualified to offer this, as someone who has translated Russian into English for 45 years. Further, a good deal of it has dealt with the sort of aerospace technical stuff Degtev has written here.

More to come, I'm sure.

I'll be honest - and clearly without knowing how the book will end - this could just as easily have been a very compelling read if it ended on the last chapter I finished, Chapter 17. That would have (arguably) been a very fitting finale.

I'm hoping this will get me prepped to read my recent e-purchase of Glukhovsky's Метро trilogy (Metro 2033, Metro 2034, and Metro 2035) in Russian. An ambitious effort, we'll see.
