Giving this one up and returning it to the library. I just didn't get caught up into it and frankly some of the descriptions of the medical impacts of radiation got my stomach turning, which is unusual for me. I just don't think I'd enjoy forcing my way through it though the story is so fascinating. Narrator is a bit YA-sounding too.

This isn't the Young Adult version, but the narrator does make it sound a bit like it is...

This is very "read the telegram" heavy and technical...

Learning lots about the not-so-surprising early days of hockey, but having a bit of trouble keeping all the characters in order. Hoping we get to the actual Yukon story soon!

Quite an interesting, moving, and insightful (plus funny) introduction, and introduction to obituaries! I look forward to reading of great and curious lives throughout the year.

Great story so far, and very well written for one of these adventure autobiographies (better than the Antarctic kayaking one I started a few weeks earlier). I'm at the point where the search for Gobi is starting in China and obviously the focus of the book is no longer just about racing, but racing time. And the author connected with me on Instagram!

I can already tell this is not the most well-written book ever, but the conservation and travel elements should be interesting. I hope the impact of those themes don't get lost in the disjointed paragraphs and short popcorny chapters...
