REALLY loving the science and the storytelling so far! Also very intriguing to see how it compares to the movie (spoiler: the book imo is lowkey still better)

Also had a fun first discussion with my friends for our book club re: the plot and mostly the science cuz we’re science people LOL

Updating my extremely slow progress with the quote:

Just went to an R.F. Kuang discussion/author event (and got my copy of this book signed !!!!!!) and needless to say she is such a girlboss instantly one of my fave authors AND her writing about the not-so-fun aspects of academia guises as a dark academia fantasy novel?? I’m so in >:)

Every time so far I feel that June would redeem herself, she just ends up not doing that she’s lowkey insufferable (good job regardless @ R. F. Kuang I will deffo keep reading)

I’m glad that she’s self-aware but dang June is just not it : )

I’m reading this slower than I thought but I had to stop my reading to document the fact that I’m 16 pages in and there’s already so much lore this is so exciting

Okayyy things are picking up now! I still have no clue about where the mystery will take us - I have some hunches but it’s very open ended rn :) still loving how much food talk there is and how easy of a read it is! Also semi rushing to finish cuz I have to return the book in around a week haha

So far really enjoying it! Light read with the whodunnit element on the horizon/starting to build up. Can't wait to see how it progresses!

Another book added to the roster and hopefully this time I finish it in time for when I have to return it!

(Putting this book on a pause for now but it’s okay so far lots of world building which is v typical of a Ransom Riggs book but definitely will pick up the book another time!)

Such an engaging read so far that I have to keep reminding myself that this is a memoir/autobiography and all of these events have happened to the author during her life

Borrowed this e-book from my local public library and need to ‘return’ it in 2 weeks so I’m super motivated to finish it

Rlly lovely so far, no complaints at all! I like how much more depth to the other characters the book has included so far after having watched the series
