If I hear “there she is” one more time I’m going to chuck my phone into the street.

Insta-love is not my trope of choice, but the spice is hot so I’ll take it. Lackluster character development - I find myself creating my own backstory for these characters in an effort to make their choices make sense.

Only 5% in and I already recommend reading the physical book rather than listening to the audiobook. This story is set in the south (Alabama?), but the narrator has a very articulate neutral American accent. At no point does she ever attempt a southern dialect even when narrating characters other than the FMC. So this really pulls you out of the setting and makes certain verbiage sound out of place.

This is the longest book of my life.

Look at that - the conflict finally happens at 96%. Is anyone surprised? Not at all.

Scarlet with her massive ego cruising in to tell Pen she knows better about her past with Lukas than Pen - again - after SEVEN. YEARS. At this point reading this book is like a hate fuck.

This is a VERY immature book. These are children pretending to be grown ups incapable of understanding grownup issues. Highly unlikeable fmc who gives you no reason to root for her. Immature writing - being a lesbian isnt the burn the author thinks it is. This is NOT a dark romance, NOT a RH, NOT an adult book. 75% in and not a single sentence of flirtation. I’m reading a book meant for a teenager.
