Yes, I know, I haven't been doing quotes for ages - and this book has some good ones, but sometimes we put things on pause in order to bring back other things in life we miss.

Warning, I bought this copy off google play. I've had great experience with GP, but this time it is a bugger. It only breaks the book down into 32 official "pages". Each "page" can be more than 15 pages long. Which means something you've highlighted or bookmarked will still take you to the beginning of that "page" not where you marked. Lost my place so many times last night. Irritating, but not the writer's fault.

Why? Oh, why did I wait so long to read this? Aside from the fact it is bloody hard to get a hold of, that is.

Tiah is reading After Tears
Loadshedding keeps turning me away from paper books. Kindle has its own light. Eventually life will calm down where I read for long spells during daylight hours.

My bedside table is starting to resemble my fathers, all these partially read books. Reasonable explanation - honest!

I don't normally list the books I read my children. But this book holds a special place of both being new to me and interesting even from an adult perspective, despite the person I'm reading it to being only 6. We've done the first story and both of us are hooked.

Tiah is reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2)
Read the 1st when my bro was 8. He's now graduating uni. Son is now 8 and he has read 1 and now want to read no 2. Decided I might want to make sure it is right for his age first. So here we go . . .

Recently wrote 'Lolita-esq' on a thread and realised I should probably read the actual book before referring to it.

Beautiful. Sad. The characters are complex, both in themselves and in their relationships. Savouring this one.

Parts of this book are admirable and seem balanced. Blows away the 'new age hippy' view that all Native Americans were one cohesive culture and peaceful. Yet, it gives perspective on the violence that the Comanches and some others used. However, some of the language grates with modern terms and it occasionally veers into US patrotisim-speak.
