This book is everything I hoped for so far: accessible, interactive, paperback, footnotes over end notes, giant margins for personal notes. I can’t wait to read & learn more

‘After the Ball’ 😭😭😭

Revisited ‘How to Tame a Wild Tongue’ by Gloria Anzaldúa after reading it for school & randomly finding my notes on it the other day. Short and powerful essay about how language shapes/is identity. She switches between Spanish dialects & English as a tool which is so cool bc she’s putting her point to practice. Glad I still have a copy

Just finished the titular story. Going to be marinating in it for a while. How Tolstoy managed to fit *that* in 53 pages is incredible

Just finished The Raid & The Woodfelling, stories abt Tolstoy’s time volunteering in the RU army in the Caucasus. Read some articles and learned that Russian (RU) lit has been replacing Ukrainian (UA) lit in UA schools, and realized I’m passively doing the same by only reading the Russian/hegemonic canon no matter how pacifist it is. Adding UA and Crimean Tatar lit to the mix for their sides of the story
