This book is quite enlightening for anyone under stress or on the "edge." So far it is powerful, authentic, very personal, and offers a great deal of needed wisdom. Those in any helping profession would benefit greatly by reading this book.

Spong’s life continues to take unexpected turns and his desire to do the right thing amazes me.

So far, I have read about the environment, challenges and success that lead to JSS taking on a bigger platform in the struggle for Christianity. I find myself often relating to his journey.

This is a comprehensive read - I have started to listen to it on Hoopla. Fascinating attempt to show the true Andy Warhol behind the mask.

Lyz has an amazing way of painting the picture of the Midwest and the Church to make sense of Tge struggle and why so many of us who live here are seeking a change.

Just finished chapter 9 on boundaries - such wisdom for our current condition. This book is not what I was expecting - it is much more.

I wish this book would not be coming to an end - so good and refreshing to the soul.

Chapter 6 “In the Beginning was the Logos” is a complete game changer! Completely had me thinking in new directions. This book is worth its price simply for chapter 6.

Utilizing this as my devotional material to start 2022. It has really been speaking to my condition in ways I was not expecting. Good read so far.

Hard to put down. Well written and engaging historic novel about Frank Lloyd Wright.

A book which speaks to my condition and the struggle many pastors face like none I have ever read.

At times this is really funny and at other times I find myself scratching my head. Overall, it is something completely outside my normal reading material. Jim Carrey is a fascinating person that is willing to find humor as well as struggle within his story (and if not, he just makes it up.)

This is just what I needed...right now.

I started this book yesterday and I cannot put it down. I listened to Kendi’s “Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America” (which I highly recommend) and so far this book is just as good. I am learning how I am racist and how I can work to be antiracist! So important for our current situation. I don’t even have to finish this to tell you to go purchase and start reading it!

“Failures are very important — they mean a great deal to me. After a big failure, I go into a deep depression and a very dark part of my body, but soon afterward I come back to life again, alive to something else. I always question artists who are successful in whatever they do — I think what that means is that they’re repeating themselves and not taking enough risks.” (P. 155)

...I had come to believe art must be disturbing, art must ask questions, art must predict the future. If art is just political, it becomes like newspaper. It can be used once, and the next day it’s yesterday’s news. Only layers of meaning can give long life to art — that way, society takes what it needs from the work over time.” (p. 80)

Interesting and horrific life, Marina had early on. Makes more sense to the roots of her art.
