I like these anthologies because they introduce me to styles of writing I wouldn’t otherwise encounter. Block’s own stories are typically my favorites; his Bernie (best, fun and humorous) and Scudder (excellent with a hard-boiled darkness) are among my favorite series. I’m a picky and sporadic rather than voracious reader who sticks with yhe few authors who resonate, adultwise.
