Loving the story so far! Very reminiscent of Douglas Adam’s hitchhikers guide to the galaxy! Can’t wait to see where it goes next! Seeing a little bit of cabal’a humanity peeking through!

Loving the character development! I haven’t seen the Broadway play or had any predispositions about the story, so I found myself being drawn to the world and all of the interesting and compelling characters. I love this version of them: young, idealistic and full of companionship.

Ugh I honestly just want to know who this character is and how they’re related to Maia! Each time I try to engage with the story, I find myself not being able to be immersed in it bc of the cumbersome system Katherine’s created. I feel like I’m missing some vital introduction to the world and culture I’ve been dropped into. I mean, at least this far in, I shouldn’t be overwhelmed and confused. So exasperating!

Honestly I’ve been intrigued with the creative choices Addison made with this book. The writing isn’t the most difficult to get accustomed to, but the words and the world that she’s built is sooo difficult to get used to. I feel like Maia, myself! Moreover, when I try and flip to the list of “gods, things and people” or whatever in the beginning, half the time I can’t find the thing/place/person I’m looking for :(

My heart. These kids have been through so much. Kevin Wilson’s writing had fleshed out these characters so well. I want to hug all of them and hold them and protect them!

These characters have captured my heart. I hope this little foster family find hope and connection and omg I’m rooting for them all SO hard!

I love how Marin Ireland voices her characters! She anticipates mood and tone and really helps you feel how the character is feeling.

I also love the strange “a simple favor” (I’ve only seen the movie) vibes I’m getting from Madison and Lillian’s relationship thus far. Super intimate in a lot of ways while being super strange and unnerving at other times.

DNF. The abuse is super triggering. I was really excited about this book! I just can’t keep reading it right now. It’s too real to the abuse I’ve been through.

So far I’m loving the concept and the Danny’s joy at her transition and newfound power (both physically and mentally/emotionally) is refreshing as fuck.

But there’s something off about the writing. It’s almost too explanatory. I feel like I’m being told what’s happening or being explained background details. I don’t really feel like I’m experiencing it.

Difficult to really get into it :(

It’s getting to be a bit of a slower read for me tbh! The world building and pacing are incredible at times. But sometimes the characters seem stuck and stagnating.

I’m in it for sure now. Let’s see how you end this, Palmer.

I'm sorry peeps, I tried. I was so excited for a quick, fun read. but the characters just felt flat and the romance just felt frustrating. Glad I tried it tho!

I feel as if I’ve Stumbled into Fairy Land myself! This book makes me feel warm, safe and hopeful. <3
