Couldn’t finish before my 21-day loan from Libby expired & they took it back. Someone else waiting so I couldn’t renew. When it becomes available again I hope I can remember what I’ve already read!

How could the author do so much medical research on comas & make such a basic mistake as that the NEEDLE is still in you when you have an IV attached to you??

Idk why I put this on my WTR list. I listened to the first 4 discs out of 9, & wasn’t really getting into it. It seems that each chapter is its own separate entity, about different characters from the same town? I wasn’t seeing a flow or connection between them. Then disc 5 needed cleaning so bad my player didn’t even think there was a disc in it! So it’s going back to the library & I’m moving on.

The first few chapters & prologue are so chock full of slang & lingo I felt like it made me think too hard about what the author was trying to tell me. Definitely not a book for some just learning English!

Really enjoyed this. The reader on the CD version is excellent, except for 2 small things: she mispronounces quahog & Thames—at least if she’s trying to sound like a New Englander. Only one neg. about the story: no further mention was made of the person who saved their lives; something nice should’ve been done for them.

I feel like I’m never going to finish this book. Pg. 180 out of 380 (NOT counting the appendix/references.) The cover, title, & subtitle made it seem like it would be more fun than it is.

I don’t think I’m going to finish it. Based on what’s already happened to him at the hands of humans, & reviews saying it’s going to get worse. I don’t need my awareness raised about humans abusing animals & about laboratory experimentation. I get enough real-world info on that from Beagle Freedom Project & the tv show Pitbulls & Parolees & from rescues I follow on social media.

I rarely do this, but I don’t think I’m going to go any farther, after what’s already happened to the dog at the hands of humans, & then reading reviews that indicate things are going to get worse! I don’t need to have my awareness raised about laboratory research treatment of animals & other abuse—I follow Beagle Freedom Project & see enough real-world images on social media & the tv show Pitbulls & Parolees.

Didn’t realize this was an abridged version. And with a different reader. I may not listen to this one in favor of getting the unabridged version. (And hopefully with the prsvious reader, who’s excellent.)

Theater of the absurd. Comedy of errors. Seems both absurd yet maybe plausible at the same time! It struck me in the beginning that he was acquiring traveling companions like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz! I’m listening to the audiobook on CD & the reader is truly excellent! Perhaps the reader is adding a lot to my enjoyment of it, because I’m surprised to see such negative reviews here.

About 3/4 of the way thru. It’s become so sad I’m reluctant to continue, afraid of what’s going to happen.

About halfway thru, I’m feeling this book is awesome. So captivating I didn’t want to stop listening (in the car) to go in the house!
