Kristen is on page 273 of East of Eden: John Steinbeck Centennial Edition (1902-2002) - Hardcover
It would be better if an author who does not believe in the Bible and mocks Christianity did not try to use the Bible and its histories to progress his story. We are not descendants of Cain but the characters discuss that we are to make it simple for the tale (two sons - twins). Time after time Steinbeck speaks in a nasty way about the characters who are believers. So far I am not seeing why this book is useful.

I wish the sword and knife were a little more fleshed out. (Bad joke intended)

Why is it necessary to have Fern hate the monks?

Kristen is on page 159 of 676 of And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln and the American Struggle
It seems this author mentions a lot how ambitious both Abraham and Mary Lincoln were in the political sphere. And there is a lot detail that seems superfluous to the book and plot.

I find it odd that at least one speech is quoted out of order. This troubles me as I question whether or not the author will quote more out of order or context to fit his narrative.
