Initially I thought that the letter format would be gimmicky - however, I quickly found that it helps the flow of the book. So far she's covered the difficulty in defining antisemitism, her preferred spelling of the term, the rise of the alt-right (and the way in which their "respectable" presentation allows their noxious ideas to seep into public discourse), and both Trump's and Corbyn's enablement of antisemitism.

I wasn’t expecting it to get so graphic, and I made the terrible mistake of reading it before bed. It includes extracts from Gail Eisner’s interviews with slaughterhouse workers, which include extremely graphic, gratuitous gory violence inflicted on pigs by sadistic individuals. It’s a good idea to skip these passages if you have any empathy for animals - Melanie’s arguments stand perfectly well without them.
