In level flight at a G.W. of 100,000lb, Mach 0.80 @ 30,000ft the DC-9-30 experiences the onset of Mach buffet at Mach .49 & .83. But if you bank slightly just 30° that low speed buffet increases 12.5% to Mach .56. At 45° of bank, it's Mach .64. Thats 23.4% higher! I love aerodynamics! Isn't science so cool?
