I just can't get into this book! I've never seen the movie but I know everyone loves the book and the movie. Maybe I'll set it aside and come back to it in a couple months

About 10% through and, so far, way more info than I ever wanted to know about architecture in 1890's Chicago

When I'm reading I don't want to put the book down, I want to know what's going to happen. When I stop reading I don't want to pick the book back up because I'm afraid of what's going to happen. So far nothing "wondrous" has happened. All the characters are a walking disaster. They are physically, verbally and sexually abused. I have a feeling something really bad is about to happen to Beli

Meh! I'm going to power through because it does have an interesting premise. But why, oh why, do they always want to squeeze a romance into an archeology book?! And the female archeologist really has no point beyond initiating sex with our hero and constantly asking him what he is thinking. So far she has not contributed one drop of knowledge to the story.
