Always heartbreaking that the little ones are the ones who are impacted by war the most. When ML asked her papa if they can go back to their untouched by Germany soldiers home soon and W’s younger sister’s opposed to him going to the school because she knows what Germany is telling their ppl is a lie and her big brother might be sent to the battle field and he’d make her worst nightmare come true.

Are women more against the war than men? Reading the part where the war is slowly but certainly beginning and taking away the life you have is really scaring me out. But we might be in a similar situation given what’s going on with the world. It’s just we are not seeing yet

Warner is taking the entrance exam to enroll the nazi youth school to get out of the children house where he’s doomed to work at a coal site. The girl and his papa are on their way to the town where his uncle lives in. Papa is also carrying the stone which can be fake but could be the real one passed by the director. Not figured out yet what role the stones playing in this story…

Tonight’s parts I read were insightful and profound. 1) Though the surroundings of you have a great impact on what makes you, the decision of what kind of person you want to become cannot be taken away, but rather up to you. 2) how imperative it is to set a goal periodically. Time provides a meaning to you for life.

What’s described in pg.42 was beyond horrible and terrible and just made me speechless. When you literally have nothing to claim about what makes of you, it leaves you with this question: what has become of me?

The author has this theory/ idea of those who try to find meaning in life can suffer from pain and survive whatever cruel conditions/situations they’re in, recommended this book by one of my fave content creators Jenn Imm. I got very intrigued by the book and wanted to make it my first read of the year to make the year a meaningful one.

The mother(Marilyn) and father(James) of the dead girl(Lidia) are in an interracial marriage. Around 1957, only 64 yrs ago, still an interracial relationship was banned. I found myself nothing but resonating with Marilyn who was denied her relationship with her husband by her own mother because it’s simply a seen-tabooed relationship. Why can’t moms see their own daughters happiness? Celeste’s work is beautiful

Even after those innocent people got to be released from their wrong convictions by the DA and law enforcement, they don’t get a compensation from the states. I utterly got lost for words. What is wrong with the systems and country though?????????????
