The plot and storytelling are both really moving. I have mostly enjoyed the book so far, with two main complaints: 1) there was an unexpected sex scene that I had to skip, and 2) it’s hard to connect with characters that immediately associate any and all injustices with “white people who get off to the moaning of black people”. It feels like the author had a good idea, but has never a white person before.
