Another two uses of “millennium” in like 20 pages. Maybe there was just no better word to use? But tbh it’s getting distracting lol

Enjoying the overall story and romance, but unfortunately I have a few more complaints. The author has been pretty good about avoiding any egregious word repetition, but I just spotted the word “millennium” three times in three pages. That’s a sore spot for me, nitpicky though it may be. Also, good LORD I hate the little sister character. She’s so deeply unlikeable, it’s not even funny.

I like the main characters a lot…excluding the little sister. Every little thing about her just has to be contrarian and it’s like, we get it, she’s quirky. I’m excited for the main story and the romance though, so far it’s good shit.

Some of the imagery is absolutely stunning, some is a little messy, but I’m officially INVESTED.

There are some small issues with it, but overall I’m really enjoying it so far.

I had high hopes for this one, and it's definitely cute, but there are some issues with the audiobook. I don't love the narrator, something about his tone just doesn't sit right with me. He's also not very good at maintaining and regulating accents (either British or Indian). There was also a name mix up in chapter two where Alex was referred to as Henry; I'm not sure whether that was a typo or narration error. Sigh.

I'm really enjoying this story. It's impossible not to feel for Circe and her plight; I can't wait to see how it all unfolds since I'm not actually familiar with the original myth. As in The Song of Achilles, the writing is superb.

Even though I enjoy it well enough while listening to it, I'm reeeally struggling to get through the last half of this book. There are some minor issues with the writing that are taking away from the experience, but it's also just kinda hard to get into (and stay in) Ove's head sometimes. A lot of his views are very old fashioned, judgemental, and reminiscent of my father. That said, it's still a great story.

Still really enjoying it. My listening has been sporadic, but it's a great story.

About to drop, I wanted to make it at least ten percent of the way in. I don't identify with the main characters at all (not even a little) and the writing style doesn't appeal to me one bit. The pacing feels off somehow, I can't put my finger on it; it just feels like it's moving too fast, but not? Anyway, I'm putting it down. Life is too short to read books that do nothing for you.

I'm definitely enjoying this story more now, and I'm glad I've gotten to learn more about Ove's wife. While I took some notes on a few technical issues with the book, I have a feeling that it'll probably be a four star read from me. I'm looking forward to seeing how the last half unfolds.

I struggled with the opening of the story, because while it was entertaining, a few of Ove's prejudices were made obvious and I couldn't help but think of my late father's closed-minded mentality. It was a little triggering, but I can honestly say that I warmed up to Ove within the second chapter. I empathize with him.

Really enjoyable so far, not to mention insightful, but I'm not connecting a ton with the author.

A few too many pop culture references for my liking, but so far it's pretty cute. Simon is likable, at least.
Cal has to be a misdirect though, right...? It's too early in the story for a reveal.

So far I'm enjoying Weston's character a lot. Much more than Tessa's, sadly. I don't think I identify with her as much, even as someone who has dealt with severe PTSD. I'm looking forward to seeing how these characters develop.

I haven't read the first half of a book so quickly in years. The last time was when the final Harry Potter book came out in 2007.
