It's starting to pick up 👀 will they survive this? How did this even happen?

I have to keep reminding myself that Sho is a sixth grader (thrown off by him being adamant by not lying, then choosing to lie and be upset with the lies told by the adults is what I'm referring to) but it seems the adults have very high expectations of these kids' maturity and initiative, so maybe I'm out of touch with his universe. My mind is trying to understand how this even happened, something supernatural?

Good riddance to that man. So glad she finally stood up, sad that he took all that money from her. Definitely not what I expected from him though.

I doubt he is going to save that money... I realize some anecdotes shared don't really need to be here and feel like fluff.

Already off to a great start! How have I never heard about her?

Chapters 42-50... quick acknowledgments/thoughts:

*Andy makes me sick 🤢
*I'm disappointed to know that Nina played a conscious role with the goal to find a replacement... and even more that Enzo agreed to help (makes sense why he didn't explicitly warn Millie)
*I knew his response to when Millie first came was covering up him being blind sighted
*I wish the first part hadn't been so long

Chapters 39-41... my hunch was right! Andy is a weirdo and has played a larger role in Nina's mental health declining. It's clear Andy locked Millie in that room, but what's her punishment?

*is the story about Nina trying to kill herself and Cecilia true?
*how does she get out and continue with this bs?
*this reminds me of another book where the husband turned out to be too good to be true, the name is escaping me.

Chapters 32-38... finally done with part 1 and the lock is in play. But who did it? Andrew? Nina? Are they in cahoots? The way everything unraveled has been a bit surreal.

Part 1 was a bit long but let's hope this finished strong

Chapters 27-31... ah, there's no going back! Nina knew! I should have known she wouldn't have hired her without looking into Millies background, probably empowered her to treat her poorly. She also likely knows about the night together, especially after the missed 11pm call to the house.

Chapters 22-26. Millie is playing with fire... although I have a feeling she may be capable of so much more than she's let on. Andy is also playing with fire but I know he won't be punished the same as Millie when they are found out.

*when will the door locking from the outside truly come into play?

Chapters 15-21 complete. That was a lot. I'm predicting a pov change... also woof at the second-hand embarrassment

*are they setting the stage for an unreliable narrator?

So Nina is unwell. I'm not sure what's going on here, what is the point of the antics, is she a sadist? Is this a humiliation ritual? All this conflicting information and her daughter seems to be in cahoots. The writing is a bit clunky though, like stream of consciousness storytelling.
