Interesting concept. But it seems the worse thing that can happen when a book is destroyed is that the individual recalls the memories they locked away. Doesn't seem eath shattering or anything.

Interestingly I read this book during the beginning of covid lock downs. So its no surprise that I don't remember these details... too much other stuff happening...

It's a sleepy prose, 1st person... but it seems to be done well anyway.

I think audio format lessens this style too, but still there's no amount of ink that can make me interested in this book.

Nope. dnf. The trigger warning ing the prologue is absolutely ridiculous. That was the first red flag. I'm not the audience for books which feel the need to warn readers about words as if theyre real life terrors and not a piece of fiction.

Then the book continues into overly gay, overly inauthentic... hmmm weirdness. Pretty sure this aint an author for me.

Big DNF. Author wants us to believe this kid who grew up so affluent, wealthy, all opportunities, great schooling, etc. is a person who is troubled just because they are black & Trans. Well, all aboard the train to the trauma Olympics where everyone tries to out-trauma another person. Meanwhile ppl with legit abuse issues just live their life listening to these assholes drone on abt when teachers didn't like a poem!

Disjointed and not a traditional plot. However, the small vignette set come into focus.Do remain intriguing and well written. There is absolutely a sense of poetry.

My enjoyment of this book increased greatly after I looked up.What the author's trying to say... the fact that many people's gay lives have been erased through society and history.

I can see why they made a movie. The writing style is very exciting, every page the stakes rise

There's a severe level of naivete in this story.

2 lone women travel to Egypt alone, and go to confront some thieves solely based on the fact they have the righteousness on their side. As if thieves will just be all "oh ya got me my bad."

Plus 2 women traveling Egypt airport alone 🤣 right. Let alone the city... and the taxi driver didn't even try to scam them.

Suck chicklit. A big scene is a fashion event at met gala. And then a bunch of moths got released and or apparently causes a huge panic and people screaming and yelling.

It's such a weird event that only makes sense in a cchicklit book.

This is really chickl-lit again isnt it? Ugh too many ended up in my tbr recently. Need to filter these out better.

Hopefully this book will rise above the usual chicklit tropes.

This book could have been so good. I'm a massive long expositions killed all momentum from the interesting bits which became fewer and further between as you go deeper into the book

To provide this book has apparently swapped to a massive paragraphs of science exposition. What happened to the actual plot?

This narrative is too unfocused and wobbly.

Okay so in the first half. Gay love is like war. Now at 50% metaphor has shifted to gay love is like authoring a book.

Less a story, more like a treatise on yearning for forbidden love.

I predicted that twist before halfway done.

Still a good story, just plain good not great.

This book chooses style over substance. And maybe there is substance further in the book, but the prose is really making me work.And i'm not into that. I just want simple entertainment. I don't want to have to set and think about fancy sentences and.

This isnt worth continuing. Why is Koontz so damn popular? I mean good for him. I'm happy for him. But how does he have so many readers? Wild.

I'm at the point in the book where it's had an orphanage for girls.

And all these conversations and dialogue are these twelve year old girls talking to each other. But there is no twelve year old girl who's ever spoken like they do in this book. It's more Bae characterization.
But I understand that is a big challenge for an author to get children's voice, correct.So I'll give them a pass for now.

My impression so far is that this book is dated has tons of cliches and terribly written characters, like really amateur-written characters.
But the book is rated so well so clearly I'm in the minority so I'm going to keep going. Hope for the best.

So far this is cliché central. The bad characters are all villains who monologue. Very cheesy opening so far
