I think the timeline of events so far feel rushed, the characters feelings for each other or even their emotions as a whole hadn't had time to develop or change. A week for the love and the friendships to develop, for the therapist to get involved, for a rivalry, it's quick and hard to believe. I'm still very much enjoying the book, but the timeline of events is holding me back from loving it

Forgot that the blurb mentioned Spirit Away and all I could think for the first 50 pages was that this was a Spirited Away and Little Mermaid influenced story. Interested to see how it breaks away from the Spirited Away parallels.

I think this is way too slow for me. It's interesting, and delves into some deeper topics, but it's all talking and thinking. There is nothing much that happens in the first 1/3 of the book. It's giving me the same feeling as The Starless Sea with less poetic writing. Might mark as DNF if I don't finish it by the time my loan expires.

The reviews I read didn't leave me very excited about this book. Early impressions, this would be a more enjoyable read without the forced Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty thing. The start also just felt jarring. I am interested in the plot, but doesn't seem like anything special yet.
