After reading the chapter about prostitution I felt so sad for the women and children and all of their families for having to go through that. I can completely understand why even to this day the people of Naples do not want to talk about what happened during that time.

Soldiers can be pigs, but I have never been to war myself so I can't entirely speak to what I would be capable of.

Wow. This last section that I read makes me really appreciate what I have, especially basic necessities. So much tragedy happened in the war.

So sad knowing that the allied military bombed Naples and caused so much destruction. But I have to remember that in war everything is ugly. I am enjoying the way the author lays this part of history out and I look forward to continuing reading this book.

Although the allies were rebuilding the city for military use, at least hopefully once the war is over the people of Naples can use all of that for their homes and personal lives.

Also I am really interested in the tunnels and caverns under the city. It is crazy to learn all of the history of this place. Also such a tragedy about the history that was burned and destroyed by the Germans..

So sad about what happened to the people in Naples. It's sad that war causes so much damage, emotionally, physically, psychologically...just terrible

Almost done and I'm really like this book.

I really like this story with the boy cop and how he would probably turn into a self righteous old man lol.

I'm starting to feel really sad for Mickey, I really like her but her addiction is so debilitating. Arlo doesn't seem as bad but her reference to her father as "Daddy" is still annoying.

I had a feeling from the beginning that I would like Mickey more. Once I kept reading Arlo talk about "Daddy this, Daddy that" I was over her.

On another note, I do like the humor within the story so far. I actually giggled out loud, which doesn't happen easily for me.

Cute introduction to the second sister. Felt like some deja vu there.

Looking forward to more in my next reading session.

Can't wait to see what's behind the door

I can't remember exactly when it got super exciting but it was sometime after my last update. Wow I cannot put the book down.

Wow the story is really unfolding now
