Chapter 32... oof. Trigger warnings!

I understand wanting a voice actress with an English accent to narrate this story as it is set in the UK and focuses on Arthurian legend. But, as an English person listening to it, I find it incredibly annoying when an American actress is chosen over a British one and now I have to listen to 'water' and 'Glastonbury' being pronounced wrong every time...

132 pages in and I've learned a new word: 'tarn'. It's been used at least 15 times in 11 chapters as if 'lake' wasn't good enough!

I realise that this is my second time reading a book from this dystopian series, but so far both of them have been really, really dark... and I'm not sure why I'm surprised by that.

The English accent... Its pretty good, but the guy sounds like he's clenching every muscle in his body to do it!

Oh no. I pre-ordered this book because the premise sounded good and I wanted to find a new time travel romance... But I'm 19 pages in and it feels like someone's Wattpad story. I was too lucky in late November/early December with good books, now karma has caught up with me TT.TT

What??? Tao's whole personality just took a 180 degree shift. She's been on the run for years but suddenly she's surrendering even though she knows what it means. I get that she's doing it for Mash, but where was the decision making or thoughts about her plan? It's so randomly introduced.

I've been on a lucky streak with cozy fantasy books, and this was one I pre-ordered the paperback to read. Unfortunately, this is another 'cozy' story that just feels boring to me. There's a hint of magic, mystery, and friendship, but nothing exciting has happened. There's no tension or romance or anything. Sigh.

I know I only read this a few weeks ago, but...

I knew it! I've read enough omega verse to see what was coming... Is that a good thing or a bad thing? XD

I'm not really enjoying this anymore. It feels YA even though the characters are supposed to be in their early/mid-20s, there are some peculiar writing choices that bring me out of the story, and I'm already over Grey as a character. She doesn't deserve Keir. Also, there are hints about trans people and transitioning while everyone is at war. It's so random and never properly explained...

It feels like this book is a lot of 'show, don't tell'. Grey is pining for Kier or sore from battle or cold but I don't FEEL any of it. Like, it's just being documented or something :/

OK, I kind of guessed Grey's identity from the first mention of the missing heir and by page 66 it seems obvious... Is it meant to be a secret or is V. L. Bovalino's writing as subtle as a brick to the face?

Reading this book has been such a strange experience. The first half I found dull and kinda boring, but I pushed through. Then the second half, once the FMC and MMC meet, got much better. But they're suddenly in love and things are happening in short chapters covering weeks and I have no idea if there'll be a happy ending...

My cheat code for escaping a book slump? Rereading Christina Lauren or Ali Hazelwood. Works every time. And I love that even though the first story was so short and I would have loved to get more into it, I still get heart flutters. Ali is so good!!

Did Project Hail Mary put me into a book slump because it was so good that nothing afterwards will compare? Or is this book just not great?

Struggling to get into this one :/

I'm not the biggest fan of this writing style, particularly where time isn't structured well and different events seem to merge within paragraphs. There's a lot of alien society rules and world building that has been hinted at but not fully explained, so I'm trying my best to keep up. The jist of this book so far is: Vulcans lost their planet, are now trying to get married to repopulate, future humans are helping.

This book's pace feels so slow. I'm about halfway through and the FMC has finally realised that the MMC may actually be the monster she's hyped him up to be, while he's been pining and feeling guilty this whole time.

What could have sorted this whole mess out months ago? COMMUNICATION! Just ask him why he said what he said. It's so dumb!

Wooooooooooooooow, this is bad. The basic setup for the story is alright, but the dialogue feels disconnected from the world the author has made. It's words and phrases from here but in a fantasy setting, and most of it is cringe-inducing. Eg: 'Mr Snarls-a-lot' and 'Ass whopping alligators' are within a page of each other.

I'm loving this book so much! I'm struggling to put it down and get any work done. And I guessed the cameo on page 189 just before the reveal. Well played, Ali XD

OK, well the book got better because the characters finally started doing stuff together rather than fuming at each other. However, Cameron keeps appearing behind Adalyn like Angel did in Buffy - apparently without any sound made at all! Or maybe she's just completely unobservant when he's out of her line of sight???

I'm so bored, the MMC and FMC are both awful, and I have no interest in this story. I can already see how the whole plot will unfurl and it feels like a bad Hallmark movie.

I would not have picked this up after The Spanish Love Deception, but The American Roommate Experiment was pretty good. At least I bought this copy in a sale.

I'm zoning in and out whilst listening to this audio book... YA books just really aren't my thing anymore :/

I'm not even 3 paragraphs in and Abby used the word 'unalived' instead of 'killed'... NO! *sprays with water* Tiktok slang is not for published books! Keep that rubbish out of there!!

I forgot how much I hate Mariana Zapata MMC's who are bossy and overbearing and rude to the FMC's. QThis one is an absolute dickhead that keeps cussing her out and calling her horrible names because 'he says stupid things when he's angry' and then starts petting her and not letting go of her when he grabs her arm or wants to get up. He so controlling it makes me want to throw the book across the room.

The MMC got DOUBLE pneumonia from working too hard just to afford plane tickets to see the FMC on the other side of the country. Ugh, my heart. I feel so sorry for these characters and I really want to know how they get to their happy ending, but I'm too exhausted so it will have to wait till tomorrow :(
