12/15 reviews on top are from men. This title was on my library list (leftover from my personal “dude fiction project” back in June.) Since 4.40 stars after tens of thousands of reviews is amazing, I knew I needed to work this into my TBR. It grabbed me right away. Since history tells me “everyone dies in the end” I look forward to crying after lots of suspense and learning to love these characters.

Im completely smitten with Carlotta by this point. She’s so endearing. I’m worried I won’t finish my library ebook and there are 10 people waiting for it. I will buy this book if the library pulls it back before I’m done.

OMG! This book is hilarious. It’s very droll and swashbuckling to boot! It’s like a better, smarter, even more self aware version of Pirates of the Caribbean… on a fantasy planet. Love!

God, this woman can WRITE! I am mightily jealous. In the absence of learning to write like this author, I think I need to read her whole backlist.
