”An American is twice as likely to be killed in their own home by a toddler playing with a gun than by any terrorist event… in Europe or at home.”

Somehow this has traveled with me for 10 years across like 6 houses in the hopes of reading it. So far so good but there have been like four minor editing mistakes

What a strange book

Finished the prologue and hearing his voice on the audiobook is making me sad :-(

It’s not much, but it’s honest work

My 2026 book challenge should just be changed to: “attempt to actually finish any book you start in 2026”

Aw jeez I’m already seeing parts of the book were written using ChatGPT… let me read a little bit and then decide if it’s a DNF

I think there’s melatonin in this book

Still going…

“The danger we all face is not the consequences of man unbound from the restraints of society. It is the surrender of independent and critical judgment by people who work in large organizations. Evil is far more the product of people in complex institutions acting without personal reflection than it is something inherent in individual man.”

What I would give to live like Babe instead of being surrounded by 5,000 feet of snow right now

Well that horse racing scene was a tough read!

What a monster of a book, and its literally all just about random conversations between people so far

“Absence of approval felt indistinguishable from blunt criticism”

On season 3 of the show so I figured I might as well read the book too

As you can see from my scourge of “TBR” adds, I’m looking for novels that focus on women, traveling, and relationships - think Eat, Pray, Love or I’m Mostly Here To Enjoy Myself. I love a good escapist travelogue of a middle aged woman. Also, anything based in Atlanta or NYC!

Sooo glad I stopped forcing myself to read a book I didn’t care about so I could get to this one

God let’s hope this is better than Dracula

The come-down from an insanely good book is horrible because I can’t get into the next like four books afterwards… no hate on this book but I’m not sucked into it yet, like at all

I LOVE reading about the fascinating Mormon/polygamy culture, so hoping this delivers!

So many work-related books this year… I figured I might as well count this one. Already fascinating to me regarding the medical implications of IV drug use. Will definitely have a place on my bookshelf for future reference

This is why I don’t read series, because now I have to read the whole series immediately after the first one

Gotta take myself back to middle school with this series - blame the Hunger Games prequel on this trip down memory lane

Homework for my job!

Re-reading because apparently I read this a few years ago & I do not remember it at all

I’m on a cult binge lately, give me recs

Any recommendations for books set in London or Paris?
