I have not read short stories I liked this much in a long, long, time. But then, Lauren Groff's books have always resonated with me in unexpected ways, each one its own unique world that I don't want to leave, even when it is terribly painful to be there. So a book of 9 worlds like this? Of course. I am glad I still have 3 stories left to go.

Rereading this after having taught it in high school many years ago. I am finding the issues that have arisen in our world in the intervening years give this even more impact now. I think my 8th grade students are all too aware of these issues more so than my students of a decade or more ago. I may be updating my rating based on my updated perspective.

I am surprised how interesting I am finding this book to be and how much I am enjoying the read. I started reading it as a possible option for my 8th grade students, but continued even after I determined that it would not work for my students. So glad I decided to keep reading.

She is so rad. Really loving this.
