I looove male authors writing stuff like “I’m not like other girls!”, “I hate girls!”, “Let’s slutshame everyone!” and “Omg you know the names to Stephen King’s characters? You must be so special! My nerdy girl!!!”

“There’s no need to call me ‘sir’, Professor” Ah yes, yes. The greatest line in the history of literature.

This is unexpectedly good. I mean, sorry Mrs Collins but I didn’t have high expectations on the story of President Snow’s life. Instead, this is such a page turner and every end of chapter leaves me gasping and wanting more.

“Bad things are hard but sometimes the good things are hard too [...] Life can be hard in its evidently hard moments, but even things that are really good and really worth doing - they can be hard too.”

This book is heartbreaking in every detail, in every page and knowing it’s not fiction it only makes things worse.

Those past 15 pages felt like 50 but I’m loving it.

Every single page is a punch in the guts and this is only the end of the first chapter.

“He has me. He’s right back there under my all too delicate skin. I don’t think he’s ever not been there. Why is it that some people can do that? Occupy a space they don’t necessarily deserve.”

It’s like a very badly written fanfiction? What is going on

I got all excited thinking it’s the American lady for sure - then I remembered it’s Agatha Christie so I will find out on the last page and it’s gonna ne completely unexpected.

Agatha Christie can get me hooked from the first pages, with a few words, just describing the characters. I have never felt a feeling like this. I’ve read books I couldn’t put down for a number of reasons, but with her work it’s different. It’s better.

Torn between wanting to slow down because I don’t want it to end and spending spending the night awake just so I could finish this.

Already captivated. It will be hard putting it down.

“And by the way, while we are on the subject. Here comes a candle to light you to bed. Here comes a chopper to chop off your head.”
Damn you George Orwell, you damn genius.

I don’t know what’s yet to come but honestly I could never feel bad for damn Winston after reading him reminiscing about his childhood. What a swine.

“I hated the sight of you. I wanted to rape you and then murder you afterwards”
The girl laughed delightedly.


I. Hate. This. Book.

Sometimes I feel like I want to put it down because it’s not interesting enough, sometimes I can’t take my eyes off of it. And this changes in the span of two pages. Wtf is this book.

Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious.

“Do you know that Newspeak is the only language in the world whose vocabulary gets smaller every year?”

It gets scarier and scarier page after page.

“This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers but to (...) every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance”

This is by far the scarier part of the book to me and if it gets worse... it’s not gonna be fun.
