Just as wonderful as expected! Loving this--though I am cutting some of the terror by reading it alongside a second book because, this one is seriously intense.

So good!!!

So happy to say, "so far so good," because I haven't enjoyed a book by this author in several years. But this one is exhibiting strong writing thus far & the story has me hooked already.

Anyone who loved Terry Miles' Rabbits, or Alchemy of Secrets by SG get this book right away. This is a trip and a half.

Very well written and original thus far

Very hard to believe this is written by a first time author. The prose is intelligent, even organically clever, and the story is original.

Impossible to put down

Already this is such an impressive read. I love it when you know straight off that you will love the book. This author can seriously write!

Too prophetic for comfort: "Create a common enemy. Subvert the media...spread lies...Scare the population into believing...their very lives, were threatened. Condition them. Groom them. Then, when the moment was right, get rid of any leader likely to oppose them and install a dummy regime, including a charismatic but not overly bright bully sold as a strong leader who could bring order to chaos."

These novels are always such reliably readable mysteries. But man, this plot like The Grey Wolf is just hitting far too close for comfort. It could so easily be non-fiction.

Nancy's Door! So psyched--this is one of the creepiest, craziest worlds.

I'm very deliberately trying to make this book last. I always gobble them whole then lament the next being a whole year away.

I love everything about this book. Best read of 2025.

Oddly, 3-5 pages will be so interesting and well written. Than 3-5 pages will be horrible--terrible prose/poor grammar/repetitive writing that says nothing over and over again. This ARC has very inconsistent, unbalanced writing.

"The day passing me by in leaps and bounds as I tread in circles, a penitent's' path I neither willingly joined nor suspected."
Is this sentence supposed to make any sort of sense 🙄? I am so sick of YA fantasy authors who think throwing random words at phrases and popping a period at the end makes art.

Well this is creepier than I thought possible! Listening intently for doors opening and closing...not smart to read this while staying in s hotel.
