Hazel's children fell off the 13th floor of a building, then later it says 7th floor.

On page 239, Pegeen is a "three-year-old," but on page 246 Pegeen is "nearly two." Yet page 246's events happen after page 239's events. Also, don't recall Pegeen ever being introduced, only heard about Sindbad.

DNF. Listening to the audio book, foreword was in the middle of the book? Feels all out of order and makes no sense.

Honestly, this book is fascinating. The author is reliable and presents well-researched information in the most straight-forward way he can. I won't say it's unbiased because nothing is truly unbiased. I am learning a lot and I think this book should be required reading from high school biology classes and beyond.

I think the author is confusing education for upbringing. Education is meant to teach facts, informational, and critical thinking. Upbringing (by parents/legal guardians) is where religious/spiritual and moral/ethical instruction should be taught. It is not a public school's job to teach your kids how to be good Christians. Enroll your kids in private Christians schools if that is what you want your kids to learn.

So far, it's illogical. Hesgeth says education in the US sucks due to a lack of Christianity in public schooling. He simultaneously denounces conspiracy theories while propounding his own conspiracy theory that liberal progressives have been secretly eroding US education since the turn of the 20th century. Breitbart and Fox News are so far the only sources of "information." It reads like a weird uncle's drunken rant.

A well-crafted story with deep characters and a unique blend of fantasy and historical fiction. Tender, tense, unbelievable and unlike anything I've read before.

There's no way this entire book is just this woman thinking "the fact that [insert random stream of consciousness]" over and over again, right?

“Don’t ask me to parse the debate. I barely heard a word of it.” Why bother to mention it, then? Also, how can you write a political exposé without having paid attention to the politics unfolding?

If this woman references “winning” one more time, I’m going to light myself on fire. Running a nation is not about WINNING. People’s lives and the policies that affect them are not about WINNING. This isn’t a game, nor is this reality TV—no matter how hard the current administration pretends it is.

This book is so difficult to read. There’s an introduction AND a prologue both written by the author, and the first chapter appears to be about how unique and accomplished and brilliant she is. She compliments herself, most hysterically when she praises her own “strong writing skills.” Girl, if you had strong writing skills you would not be using passive voice so much. Get to the point.
