All of the characters are tropes, we're being told instead of shown everything, and I am rolling my eyes every other paragraph. Don't think we're long for this world.

I waited almost a year for this book to come off hold and I can't listen to it. I'm so disappointed.

Who in seven hells thought narrating at two different volume levels was a good idea???

This audiobook is gonna be rough. The narrator actually whispers when the characters do so I can't hear them and their enunciation is fine in silence but gets garbled down to nothing in white noise, which is a problem when you listen while driving like I do.

So I'm missing all of the dialogue.

I am 2 hours into this audio book and it could have been 1. Emelia is not smart, their interactions are entirely rote, and I am falling asleep at the wheel even with it going at 1.75 speed.

I don't know if I'm going to make it much further.

This author is very good at emotional pain. This author is very bad at plot and character development 😂 Feel like I'm reading about a double pendulum.

At like, exactly the 50% mark this goes from passably enjoyable to ??? bad. It's like we're missing at least 20 pages of development and everyone is characterized for convenience and not like real people all of a sudden. What happened.

"It’s very difficult for me to imagine someone getting a recommendation to read Gone Girl and then forgetting the title when they sit down to search for it online. Gone what? It makes no sense. You’ve heard it once—you remember it forever.

1) Has definitely never met someone with ADHD
2) This paragraph is tragic

All of the best-selling title examples in the second 20% of the book do not follow the advice of the first 20% of the book.

Pondering dnfing because all of these characters are walking tropes and thus far nothing has been fun. I even sped up the audiobook just to move it along, and that's never a good sign.

I forgot this morning that I was reading this.

I need to write this thought down before I lose it, but Ashley Herring Blake writes gays like everyone is Luc and no one, absolutely no one queer, is like Oliver from Alexis Hall's Boyfriend Material.

Ever since she said I can't have bread, I've been mentally checked out of this book.

I made it to exactly 50% before it had to go back to the library 🤣 We'll see when it comes back around.

Oh yeah text is way better. Actually enjoyed this 2%. Might even breeze through this now that the sentences are complete sentences and not 6 related fragments.

Holy shit I want a full version of that intro song.

Okay yeah I just got to the first wreck and this narrator makes it impossible to connect the dots. This is too technical of information for stops in the middle of sentences. Everything is fragments! I've put the ebook on hold. We'll try that.

I can already tell the audiobook was not the way to go. This man reads like every line break is a crack in the pavement his brain tripped over. I've already got it going at 1.5x speed, but nothing can hide these awkward pauses. These sentences have no fluidity read like this.

I hope that some of that excitement.

Ya'll I am 15% in and tearing up. I think this one's gonna be good.

I made it through issues 1-4, but now it's returning to the library and I'm not sure if I'll use a borrow to get it back anytime soon...

As a person who has many a ProblemTM with drinking a la ptsd and emotional spiraling, this book starts out by making me irrationally angry and upset. Unsure if I'll make it to the end. I can't take much more of this.

I'm really struggling emotionally with this. This guy's family are total assholes and the reviews are implying the MC is supposed to cave to their pressures and I'm not sure I'm gonna like this one at all. It's the same problems I have with Andi's "friends" in Devil Wears Prada. Stomping on someone's dream/job because chasing it means they don't do what you want them to actually just makes you a horrible person.

I didn't expect to have feelings about long hair rep but I have feelings about long hair rep. So far the most unrealistic thing is that Cress has had shin length hair for almost 7 yrs and hasn't figured out how to not get tangled in it.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've been tangled in my hair. I'm going on 30 years without a hair cut.

I am bored and it turns out I don't like Cassidy as a person.
