in all actuality, so far a perfectly average plot and characters, and slightly subpar writing/inventiveness. At times I feel as if I'm reading a teenager's first draft, and it often seems as if the author believes once you define something in a glossary there is no need to actually flesh it out in the story

an attempt at a book about nuance and depth, without remembering that that requires communicating deep understanding

improvement, not irate anymore, just sort of tired. although, every so often something is worth a bigger reaction of disbelief. the writing unfortunately has remained somewhat juvenile and abrupt between chapters in a way that feels like a mistake rather than a style

words can't describe how much I couldn't stand the first few chapters of this book, especially bc of high expectations bc of the praise it receives. it aims to cover such important topics, but spends more time telling dumbed down concepts than the story itself. The writing style is awkward and the jumps between the chapters felt clunky. harsh? maybe, but i only have so many words. hopefully it improves
