The book is okay. Some interesting details and the focus on ordinary people is an interesting approach but sometimes it can feel as though the minutiae are emphasised over the significant events. Ultimately, I f eel as though I have a much better understanding of what life for the Afghan people has been like over the last 50 years but no better informed about major historical events.
