I have read some reviews about how this novel is full of sexism and misogyny and weakly written women. And I have a different take. This novel isn't REALLY a vampire novel. It is about misogyny and oppression of women. Look at how the men treat their wives and how they talk to them. And if you think that women like this don't exist now, no less didn't exist in the south in the 90s, you need to research.
