I don't know; I'm just not getting into this one. Was hooked by the first line but haven't really started warming to the characters. Would be the second dnf in a week.

Apparently in the right headspace to move this from DNF to Currently Reading. Only took 2 years.

Currently reading... for the 4th(?) time. I'm so boring.

I'm intrigued (and a little distressed) about certain aspects of this book (one obvious question ... what does it really MEAN to be released???). But I'm not really enjoying the book. I'm not getting immersed in it, I never forget that I'm reading... not sure if that's the story, the prose, the e-Reader, or my current state of mind.

THIS:

"When I read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe as a boy, I used to think that Turkish Delight must be incredibly delicious... And it turned out to be this powdery gummy candy. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in my entire life."

I just... can't. I can't read a story about missing girls. Too much like my worst possible nightmare.

So, I actually logged in to mark this as did-not-finish, because I just wasn't getting into it. Felt directionless. But the Goodreads description actually told me what (and who) the book is about... and now I want to keep reading. But initial impression is that we've spent 1/3 of the book just setting the scene... and I'm getting kinda impatient.

This is a fascinating book. Not only am I thoroughly engrossed in the story, but I want to pick it apart and look at all the pieces.

I don't know if I'm going to finish this one. The story just feels a bit hopeless (no pun intended, although no doubt the irony was intentional). I just find there's nothing pulling me forward. And, of course, more on the to-read list than I can possibly ever get to.
