Almost done, thank god!!! I never thought I’d come across a book by Lindsay Buroker that I’d really. dislike. Kaylina is TSTL and I’m really baffled that Vlerion is attracted to her at all.

Getting recruited to be a ranger out of the blue, without much physical prowess and immediately trained by a battle hardened young veteran is downright ludicrous.

The plot so far has Kaylina alternating between antagonizing and lusting after the strong but arrogant royal ranger Vlerion. Just go have sex already!

. Lindsay Butler usually has spunky and likable heroines, but Kaylina is pretty annoying. The world building is spotty and weak. Hopefully this gets better soon.

Finally! This is picking up some steam! Dialogue and some action!

Too many unnecessary side details. Very distracting. Its like sitting on a bus on a very long trip next to someone making endless commentary about the scenery, and the other passengers.

This is getting ridiculous. Val and Zav are having lengthy dialogue AND flirting in the middle of searching villainous dark elves in the cold mountain sides of a volcano they are threatening to blow up.

Ugh. Val’s fight against the dark elves has gone on for too long and going nowhere. Zav the dragon leaves because she tells him to after his irrational sister threatens her daughter. Supremely arrogant and possessive one moment, wishy washy next. I’m skipping several pages at a time to get to the end.

Halfway through. Nothing major is going on except Max keeps getting beat up and injured while investigating the missing daughter and grandchild of her foster parents and a growing number homeless people.

Enjoying this so far because I like the MC! The regency setting also helps.

Chapter one begins over dramatically. “The sky foretells a coming tragedy” Hmm. Then it overdoses on painting a grim frozen landscape. A lone girl is hunting with her bow, catches a paltry elk, then takes the bloody, dripping mess home only to search for her missing sister. Wren (lol) is worried for her younger, prettier sister Elora who is blissfully unconcerned.

I dunno if I can finish this. Densely clueless and oblivious girl is turning me off big time.

Was supposed to be a holiday read, but now its for the new year. Lol!

This kind of romantic love is too clingy for me. I feel kind of suffocated by their overanalyzing and feelings!

I'm reading this with the same enthusiasm as finishing a soup going cold.

Gawd! The flirting is so excruciatingly awkward and stilted. So tedious to read.

I can't connect with Hannah at all. Dunno why anyone would find her remotely attractive, because she's as charming as rock one trips over accidentally. And Evan is sexy and good-looking because Hannah thinks so.

After a great showdown with her tormentor’s A hole father, Ruth and Evan finally get down to business. I can always count on Talia Hibbert for scorching hot sexy scenes!

Ok.Ruth is starting to grow on me. Evan still seems TOO perfect and makes my teeth ache.

I’m bored.

This part is kinda ludicrous. Who crashes in on a friend’s place and brings along their date??????

It was all going so well and this miscommunication trope is not just awkward it’s idiotic.

I’m not connecting with any of the characters and I find the insta-lust a little bizarre.

Hazel is starting to grow on me and so is Josh/Jimmie.

However, they’re both drunk and about to get hot and heavy. Umm…

I’m on the fence about Hazel on the get go. Her eccentricity frequently gets rather manic and seemingly has an unconfirmed diagnosis of Tourette’s syndrome.

On the other hand, Josh is a little dull at the moment. So it kinda evens out.

Laugh out loud funny. The mishaps happen one right after another.
