The early descriptions from the narrator of her family really sent me - people say all the time that no one notices the things that you notice about yourself, all the tiny bits that you pick apart. But then you get this incredibly detailed analysis/judgment from the narrator of another’s physical appearance, and it really makes you question that adage.

The first 20% or so was quite bad and I almost gave up. But then it started getting a bit better and I think I’m in it til the end now.

I wish she’d go a bit more into the details about moss vs fire suppression effectiveness. I liked the bit about liverwort
