I’m cringing, but not in a bad way. This book delves deeper than I anticipated it to do…

Mallory’s story is a domestic horror story while Leo is navigating the ruins of addiction and cheap sex—a horror story likewise. It’s continuing on being compelling and I’m looking forward to see what the author cooked up for the upcoming 50%…because I have no idea what could ensue going forwards.

I hope the narrative style continues…bcs this has potential to be amazing and if it stays like this oh I’ll be so insufferable and shoving this down everyone’s throat.

Bcs unfortunately this IS the gay experience. I’m finding this hilarious in it’s tragic absurdity!

Even though I’ve been avoiding reading this book before getting the physical copy, life had different plans. After finishing a reread of his other novel Foe I craved more. Faced with the lack of audiobooks on my phone (i.e. books that actually interested me) I found a “long lost” audiobook of this book and decided it’s a sign and to give it a go.

This is my 3rd time reading this book in 4 years as well as my 2nd time reading it in the last year.

I’m just so fascinanated with Iain Reid’s approach regarding the narrative. However, this time I started from the end and circled back.

1st read was me experiencing the story.
2nd one was a refresher.
And now an attempt to really understand the narrative/characters.

Well if this isn’t quite interesting.

That start was…different if I do say so. It’s not bad it’s just different way to set up the narrative.

I’m really interested where the second half of this will lead.

I love that were are getting more worldbuilding but also some MC intrigue👀, though I’m dreading finishing this soon since the author has only written 1/3 of the 3rd book as of now… 😭😭 I NEED TO KNOW THIINGSS

The puzzle piece are slowly falling in their designated places. Very nice. Kinda was suspecting a part of it, but everything else…interesting. I’m very excited to see where the story goes from this point 👀👀

I must reread the last part because I’ll be honest I wasn’t really paying attention and things got a bit murky there…however, this was beautifully written and such an interesting concept!!!
