I'm so excited "To Whom It May Concern" took first place in the YA (12-16) fiction category of the 2024 Next Generation INDIE Book Awards.

The behind-the-scenes look at military family life makes me even more thankful for their service--active duty and civilians.

Loving all the stories from military spouses across the ages.

Heading to Chicago for the Printers Row Lit Fest on Sept. 9-10. I'll be in Tent C signing books with other W. Brand Publishing writers. Stop by and lets chat about YA fiction, adoption, humidity, etc.

I'm very excited about the strong launch of "To Whom It May Concern." I've heard from many readers -- adopted or not -- that the adoption plot line gave the story another layer of depth. November is National Adoption Awareness Month. I'd be honored if you considered my YA Fiction as a gift for yourself or someone else.

Release day: 8/8/23

This work of fiction was inspired by conversations with friends, who like me, were adopted. However, unlike me, the revelation of their adoption was not in a kind and loving way. The shock made many feel betrayed and brought up more questions and confusion.

I wondered how would I feel if that happened to me. My thoughts turned to words which turned into "To Whom It May Concern."

Beyond excited to let you know that not only will I be in Arizona, March 4-5, for the #tucsonfestivalofbooks, but I will also be in the Indie Authors Pavilion!
UNBOUND FEET and I will be making our appearance from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Pavilion with other Adult Fiction/Non-fiction selections.

As the leaves change and the temperature drops, I'm reminded of living overseas and how celebrating traditional U.S. holidays, like Thanksgiving, were so different. Turkeys are not that easy to find in Central China. Life as an expat is full of surprises.

Two years ago today, I saw the cover art for my memoir for the first time. I was overcome with emotion at the beautiful cover designed by publisher JuLee Brand and by seeing my name. Even though as a journalist I'd seen my name in print numerous times, it was a very powerful moment.
