The foundation we give our kids should be Jesus, not a specific church, not the Christian way of living, not a specific program like Awana, but Jesus, so that no matter where they are in life or what they’re experiencing, they know who to turn to!

I love how life keeps interrupting Ove’s plans! It makes me think about how our regular interactions might just be saving people. I also really like how Backman describes the woman’s laughter on page 60: as if it’s carbonated and someone has poured it too fast and it’s bubbling over in all directions.

“God uses our imperfections and our willingness to share our mistakes to reach the hearts of the lost” (195).

Great character! Love a good curmudgeon!

“Train your kids to instinctively run to the Word for comfort from the Spirit. . . . [Train] them to center their very lives around Him” (82). Best parenting book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read lots of them!

Can’t believe how much good stuff is packed into this book! I keep saying AMEN on every page! I can’t wait to share this resource with other parents! Teach them to have a heart of obedience and self-control early. so they have a heart that genuinely wants to obey God later rather than their own desires.

Another page turner in this dystopian series

This book is incredible! How have I not read it before? Parents need to work together to intentionally raise kids who love God, passionately, and love others on purpose. This takes being intentional together not just going to church on Sunday. We must be on mission together to raise children who will be lifelong followers of Jesus.

Humans can be so terrible! This is fiction, but it’s not far fetched that people would be this power hungry and selfish.

“God uses our experiences to equip us for our calling” (126).

This might be my favorite in the trilogy!
