It’s a witty, quick read. I don’t hate it but i don’t love it either - it’s not very immersive, honestly.

I like Claire’s style a lot. A lot. I read Daughters of Sparta back in June and I’m already hooked on this one. I think she’s the best when it comes to epics and mythology retellings - never any info-dump (which are very boring for someone who has studied these things is school), never any anachronistic reimagining. She retells the story, adheres to the original, yet still gives it a very fresh spin.

I find Isabella to be SO relatable it’s scary. Like, she is ME (except i don’t have an husband).
How “she spent five years “pining for something better” and then “the next ten resenting it when it didn’t happen”.
I felt that.

I don’t know why i felt compelled to start this book but I am absolutely adoring it.

I still like it, and I cannot agree in the slightest with those who call the Dragon abusive or have such a huge problem with the age difference. it’s a FANTASY for heaven’s sake… get over it, there is no need to start an ethical discussion about the love story between a young witch and a century-old warlock! Just enjoy the damn thing… or don’t, but stop being all righteous about it.

I am still liking it a lot so far but I must say this... So, I have an English copy at home but there is also an Italian translation at my workplace, so I read from the Italian version during my lunch breaks.
Well, the Italian translation is ABYSMAL. Like, “Surely that’s good?” gets turned into “are you sure that’s a good thing?”. Some dialogues make no sense at all and I’m forced to recheck them once I get home.

The reviews I read weren’t that encouraging but I like it so far

A very good read so far - the text flows, the author clearly did a lot of research, the story doesn’t stray from the epics and the additional, made-up events are all realistic and interesting.
