So far many of the principles of letting go and self-compassion (as an embrace of nothingness) sound very similar to other books I have read so far, just this time through the lens of Buddhism. Not that that is a bad thing, but it is interesting how many similar principles seem to resurface across fields like qualitative research, spirituality, feminism, psychology, etc

It seems to me that Sun & Steel is written so incredibly vague & meandering for no other reason than to appear profound. So many words just to say that the author found joy in exercise

Author seems to make a distinction between information and things. Our way of expression and identity has gone from possession of things to informational experiences. We are because of what we experience. Non-things have a tendency to be commodified. E.g., social media commodified friendships, Airbnb hospitality. Commodities are now filled with microstories. Community as a commodity spells the end of community.

What the hell was that meandering intro? It doesn‘t spell much good for the remaining chapters
