so sally rooney which is excellent because i need sally rooney desperately
a perfect psychosis book
incredibly insightful, sharp, and all of joey's thoughts are my thoughts! all of joey's habits are my habits! all of joey's relationships are my relationships! egad!!!

translating slightly older vernacular can be a little tough on my rotted brain but overall worth the hype

cute vignettes a bit soft but shall be allowed. Some tears shed

lol first time reading vuongs anything although his reputation precedes him ofc. Yes very poetic — the beginning perhaps too much — but it’s surprisingly funny at times. So so tender and romantic at times, it would almost be too much, except I think he gets away with it for now…

dang this book rly picking up! Maybe I just don’t like war idk. Also wow so cool one day they had a civil war crossover episode

man I love a restrained novel about aspirational and depressed women in their 30's

carlota is bad b!!! she is cooler than Maximilian. also crazy to me how they're so bent out of shape about accepting the crown but mexico doesn't even want them. but also BJ is hiding out there. so tough spot. this whole thing is crazy and speaks to how quickly morals can fall to hubris. love. can see how this became a telenovela.

Chapter 4 is so beautifully written and weaves in real people seamlessly

just what the doctored ordered

Kind of dragging a bit now tbh

Afraid I’m turning into an insufferable person lol
