I personally really enjoy Claude Simon’s writing, and this work is no exception. It’s a separate beast altogether when compared to his earlier works(TFR, TG, TW, HIS), and though comparatively restrained in scope and heft, shedding the shifting interior perspectives, ambiguity, etc. it’s certainly not a lesser work, as some seem to believe.
