This is a Lord John Grey novel. Lord Grey is gay, has a serious crush on Jamie and at this point is wandering through the forests of Ireland alone with his crush, who has previously thwarted Lord John before when he was his prisoner, and who still has issues dealing with a brutal, sadistic rape by Black Jack Randall decades before. The TV only Outlander fans have no idea how TWISTED DG is.
