I have been reading about the accusations by multiple people about one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman. The accusations at this point seem credible and abhorrent. It is very disappointing to find out that someone whose art has been formative in one’s life is a despicable predator in his personal life; for me it taints the work. I have removed him from my “top 10 fav authors” bookshelf.

While there is something to be said for the argument of separating the artwork from the artist, I believe in the case of a living artist, one cannot support a person who is morally abhorrent. I have not removed individual works from my “bookshelves” or removed or changed my ratings for those works, but in the future I will not be buying or participating with Neil Gaiman’s work.

I will continue to monitor the news on this and if the allegations prove to be non-credible I can change my mind.
