Ziggy assumes her mother thinks this is a phase and the less attention you give it, the quicker it will die. Which is fine with Ziggy. The less seriously Ruth takes her, the less likely it is Ziggy will be forced into psychotherapy.

"They make everyone pay two hundred dollars for a tiny camera?"

Her grandmother looks affronted by Ziggy's obfuscations, but the word transhuman will not be useful to a loopy sex-elf in sheepskin.

Ziggy feels alone in a way that makes her think of vacuum cleaners in deep space - something she knows she's misunderstood from physics.
