Notes:
(1) The concept takes a bit to kick in, but by the end you more or less get the gist of it.
- Best I can tell, Joan is stuck in an anthology romance comic, and once she falls in love she wakes up as the main character in a different story. These take place at different points in time.
- Going in, I thought it was about time travel, but it's more like "Groundhog Day."

(1) The last two issues take the series down a notch. Issue #4 has a clever and poignant payoff, but the setup is long and repetitive.
- The destination, while interesting, isn't worth the journey.
(2) Issue #5's meant to shed light on Joan's ordeal, but it's just a lot of pussyfooting around.
- The only new information is that Joan's "Mother" is pulling the strings.

- At least past the first one, each issue's been a full-length story and setting.
(2) By now it's clear that the central relationship of the series isn't between Joan and her lover de jour, but between her and the cowboy who hunts her.
- Is death a metaphor for falling in love? Do you die in a way?

- Interesting how romance is listed last.
(2) At first glance, it's obvious great pains were taken to give this the look of a Golden Age romance comic.
- Everything from melodramatic thought-bubbled covers to faux newsprint coloring.
