"The Saucer Has Landed," "The Collapse of the Baliverna," "The Five Brothers," and "The Time Machine" are standouts. (Honorable mention for "Appointment with Einstein.")

"Panic at La Scala." Great! Very much like a Buñuel film (the obvious comparison being The Exterminating Angel) in that it's very funny on the surface and that I'm sure I'm missing something of the deeper satire.

I'm only six or seven stories into this collection, but I love it already. Between this and The Stronghold, Dino Buzzati is fast becoming one of my favorite writers.

Standouts so far are "Our Moment," "Seven Floors," "The Seven Messengers," and "The Bewitched Bourgeois."
