We might actually arrive at the last page of this novel without a single thing of narrative interest happening at any point.

Desperately, painfully dull, I have to say.

There’s virtually nothing of any narrative interest here so far, and the evocation of the moment is a bit absurd at times, though the writing itself is consistently lovely. (At around the halfway point of a novel, if you’re still waiting for narrative interest, you’re probably waiting in vain.)

Spellbinding stuff so far.
