Finished book 2
Takes place in the city of Darujhistan. This is a much tighter story line than the first book. Very straight forward and not confusing at all. I just absolutely love the prose. Reminds me of Dickens or Susanne Clark.
Quote I liked
"Maruillio snorted. 'Kruppe's memory is revised hourly. All that holds him together is fear of being discovered.'"
I know someone like that in real life!

Just finished book one which takes place in the city of Pale. Multiple POV's, flashback, and timeline hoping, make this a little confusing, but I am really enjoying it so far. A very imaginative world with some excellent writing.

I have the book and I keep looking at it. But I’m scared to start the series and get hooked.. what’s your opinion so far?

Not for a beginner fantasy reader, but for those readers of epic military fantasy with many plot lines and POV's I highly recommend. This feels like a series I will fall in love with the characters and love to revisit in the future. (Much like LOTR and Stormlight Archives)The Book Guy on You Tube made two Videos that helped me feel ready to dive in. They are titled:
Malazan Book of the Fallen - A Beginner's Guide
Six Reasons Why Malazan is Confusing - & How to Keep Reading
Hope this helps.
