Christians should affirm patriarchy. You can call it “broad complementarianism” or whatever else you want. The point is that Scripture is clear that God has given men the responsibility to rule in society. Men have authority over their wives, and some particularly gifted men are to serve as pastors of churches and others as political leaders.

“Christianity is patriarchal. It is about God who has authority over all of creation. God sent His Son to redeem His church, and in doing so, He restores the order of creation. God has put authority structures in place in this world, and He is at the top.”

“But what the world needs is not a middle way between feminism and biblical Christianity. The world needs biblical Christianity, and that means something more comprehensive and robust. The world needs Christian patriarchy.”

We live in a culture that is increasingly rebelling against God’s design for men and women, and this is affecting the church. Women are forsaking motherhood and men are forsaking authority and responsibility. Women are acting like men, and men are acting like women. This has created what is known as androgyny, ambiguous sex characteristics. But that is not how the Bible portrays the sexes.

The Bible certainly prohibits homosexual behavior. But it also prohibits homosexual desire.

“Progressives demand that women must serve in all positions that men do, while conservatives hold that the world is inevitably hierarchical. Christianity has never been egalitarian. It recognizes that God made the world hierarchical and that everyone will look somewhere for authority. Scripture gives us instructions on how to live in this hierarchical world, and thus progressives reject the Scriptures.”
